6. Conditional Formatting with a Formula

Lesson 6 of 11
Task 1 of 1
  1. Highlight the entire rows in A2:D9 where the status is "Overdue".

Lesson theory

A formula rule highlights a cell when the formula returns TRUE. Write the formula for the first row of the range; it shifts to the other rows, just as it does when you fill down.

To highlight the whole row of an overdue invoice, use the range A2:D9 and the formula =$D2="Overdue". The $ before D keeps the column fixed while the row changes.

In Excel this is Home › Conditional Formatting › New Rule › Use a formula to determine which cells to format. The trainer calls it Formula.
