3. Scatter, Doughnut and Combo Charts

Lesson 3 of 6
Task 1 of 6
  1. Build a combo chart from A1:C7: revenue as columns, orders as a line.

Lesson theory

Four more chart types that reports need most often:

  • Combo: the first series as columns, the others as a line on a secondary axis on the right: revenue in dollars and orders in units;
  • Scatter: the first column of the range is the X axis (numbers), the second is Y. You can see whether there is a relationship. CORREL measures how strong it is: near 1 is a strong positive link, near 0 means no link;
  • Stacked column: the parts are stacked on top of each other, and the height of the column is their sum;
  • Doughnut: a pie chart with a hole, and the total can be shown in the center.

Select the range together with its headers, click Chart and choose the type.
