Lesson 5 of 14
Task 1 of 1
  1. Fill in the cost table B2:F6: the quantity from column A × the price from row 1. Write one formula in B2, then fill it right and down.

Lesson theory

Sometimes you need to lock only the column or only the row:

  • $A2 — column A is locked, the row changes;
  • B$1 — row 1 is locked, the column changes.

That lets one formula fill a whole table: =$A2*B$1 always takes the quantity from column A and the price from row 1. F4 cycles through the variants: A1 → $A$1 → A$1 → $A1.
